- Runs in your browser
- Checks live pages
Give AI tools a short, clear map of your site: who you are, what you offer, and which pages to read first. Fill in the form and get a file that follows the llms.txt format.
Three steps
Add your site name and a one or two sentence summary.
Group your most useful pages into sections, with a short note on each.
Copy or download the file and publish it at yoursite.com/llms.txt.
GuideReviewed
llms.txt is a proposed standard: a Markdown file at the root of your site that gives AI tools a curated summary and a list of the pages worth reading. Web pages are full of navigation, scripts, and layout; llms.txt hands an AI tool the short version.
It's an open proposal, not an official rule from any AI company, and no major AI search engine has said it ranks or cites sites because of it. Treat it as cheap, low-risk housekeeping that helps tools and agents that do read it, not a ranking lever.
The parts go in this order. Only the first is required.
Write the summary the way you'd want an AI answer to describe you. Pick your best pages rather than every page: product, pricing, documentation, key guides, and policies. A short note on each link tells a tool when to read it.
What people ask before they use the llms.txt generator.
A Markdown file at yoursite.com/llms.txt that summarizes your site and lists the pages AI tools should read. It follows an open proposal published at llmstxt.org.
There's no public evidence that it does, and no major AI search engine has said it uses the file for ranking or citations. It can help AI tools and agents that read it find your best pages quickly, and it takes minutes to publish.
robots.txt tells crawlers what they may access. llms.txt suggests what's worth reading and summarizes your site. They work together; llms.txt doesn't block or allow anything.
A common companion file that includes the full text of your key pages in one document. It isn't part of the core proposal. Start with llms.txt; add a full version only if your content suits it.
At the root of your site, for example https://example.com/llms.txt, served as plain text. A section of a site, such as /docs, can have its own file at /docs/llms.txt.
No. You choose the pages, and the file is written in your browser. We only fetch something when you ask the tool to check a site's existing llms.txt.
